Torea Saddle to Anakiwa
This section of the track begins with a long steep climb (Grade 5/expert), lots of pushing and rewarding switch backs on descent. The section Waterfall to Anakiwa starts off as a narrow and undulating track becoming wider and more moderate in the mid section with a long descent to Anakiwa.
This makes a good day trip with bikers able to continue from Anakiwa to Picton along the picturesque Queen Charlotte Drive road. It is also possible to cycle as far as Mistletoe Bay via the Kenepuru Road, which offers an easier ride at sea level from Torea Saddle.
Boat transport should be organised prior to arrival. Accommodation options in the Anakiwa area include Anakiwa 401 Self-catering Guesthouse, Anakiwa Lodge and Smiths Farm Holiday Park.
At Anakiwa there is a shelter, a public card phone, toilet, car park and bike wash. Mountain bikers catching water taxi services are collected from the first jetty on your left at Anakiwa.
